At Yokohama Kyokyu Line Station, a violent incident has occurred in which a high school girl who was using her smartphone in the priority seating on the train was kicked down the stairs leading to the station platform by a man she disobeyed when he warned her over using her smartphone. The girl’s current condition is unknown.
The incident is thought to have occurred at 4:40pm, and according to what witnesses have said, the girl was warned by a man for playing with her smartphone in the priority seating sections of the train carriage, and the man took her smartphone from her and started shouting angrily in a loud voice.
According to people who were close by, the situation seemed to have been resolved; however, the man was persistent, and continued to shout at the high school girl. Following this, the man apparently kicked the girl down the stairs at Yokohama station when she alighted the train. (There are also some reports that state he pushed her).
The man was restrained by station staff, and taken into custody by police who hurried to the scene, but he insisted that “all I did was tell her off”, and shouted “I’m not aware of having done anything wrong!”.
The man who was in his thirties or forties, was taken away by police, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to witnesses, after being kicked by the man the schoolgirl who was kicked by the man tumbled down the stairs, bleeding from the impact. She then started to convulse. It appears the girl was taken to hospital, but no specifics are known about her condition.
