This collection of old “samurai” photographs, apparently curated by a foreigner, have been reposted on Hamusoku.com, and are getting Japanese netizens talking.
The source of the photographs is not revealed, but for the most part they show a bygone age, albeit a slightly later period than might originally be assumed. Most of the photographs appear to be hand-coloured prints — most likely postcards for tourism purposes — and are were probably taken in the early twentieth century — apart from those of Mishima Yukio, that is.
Hamusoku netizens enjoyed looking at the collection — we hope you do too.

Not a samurai(for sure).
His muscles are amazing.
Isn’t that Mishima Yukio?
He has a really beautiful body.
Mishima Yukio had such a good body.
Is no. 6 one of those people who show up at tourist spots?
Wow, the image of Japan that people have abroad is pretty different from the reality.
Looking at Japan from a foreign country,
must have felt kinda like it was a small island across the sea where fairies lived.
What the hell is Okamura [Japanese comedian from comedy duo Ninety-Nine] getting up to in no. 12?
Thought No. 12 was Okamura.
Kinda nice when the straightman Yabe [the other member of the duo Ninety-Nine] isn’t chasing after him.
I thought that no.13 was a picture of a decapitated ghost…
Makes me laugh to see Mishima mixed in every so often.
Dude, you don’t need Mishima in here w
There’s a real mixture here, more so than I thought.
But wow, just think that there are so many photos remaining of this era.
Weren’t some of these taken in modern times?
For the most part, these are tourism photos that were probably taken slightly later — you can see that if you look at the hairstyles in the photos.
…I wonder if we have surpassed them.
Nah, the thing is, these guys are cool! ww
